Anti-Virus Information Exchange Network Code of Conduct

In the fall of 2001, AVIEN created a Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct is to be used as an ethical frame work. It does not absolve anyone from following their own ethics, neither is this intended as a cast iron rule for disciplinary action.

The Anti-Virus Professional's Code of Conduct is voluntary in nature and written with a very broad base in mind. It is felt to be general enough that even general security professionals can sign it. The goal of this project was to provide one base document that people on the outside of the industry can point to and say "there is the ethos of the AV profession".

This document helps legitimize the AV career path in the eyes of many management
individuals, as it lays down what we feel to be ethical behavior in
virus research.

This Code is open to all AV technicians.
