Presences at Conferences
EICAR, May 2002, Berlin

Despite numerous attempts
to quell the rumours that AVIEN is involved in the serious crime of
vendor bashing, the issue came up time and again. Giving in to destiny,
Robert Vibert, administrator of AVIEN, removes the portable vendor bashing
device from its holster and prepares to do battle.

Earlier in the day, Robert
had been warming up by bashing David Perry of Trend Micro, a notorious
vendor.

But the EICAR conference
was not all work. After a hard day of vendor bashing, Robert joined
a few other fellow anti-malware soldiers. From the left, the back of
the head belongs to Allan Dyer, Larry Bridwell (ICSA Labs), James Wolfe
(Lockheed Martin), Robert, and Urs Gattiger (Univ. Aarburg)

Several AVIEN members made
it to Berlin. Left to right (Andrew Lee, Robert Vibert,
James Wolfe)

Visits to CheckPoint Charlie were the order of the day.

In this photo, Robert is
posing beside a facsimile of the actual border point he crossed when
The Wall was functioning, back in 1984.
