AVIEN NEWS
Presences at Conferences
Virus Bulletin,
September 2002, New Orleans
AVIEN and the newly created
AVI-EWS were represented by Robert Vibert, Administrator
Helen Martin, Editor of VB
and hostess for the conference, wrote in her report "Robert
Vibert gave a few delegates a rude awakening by catapulting doughnuts
into the unsuspecting audience. Prior to the food fight he had been
charting the growth of AVIEN since its inception at the VB conference
in Orlando two years ago and detailing the progress of some of AVIEN's
ongoing projects."
Needless to say, you have
to keep an eye on the press. The fact is that at no time did a doughnut
touch Robert's hand. In the photo below, you can see that Ken is armed
with a doughnut launcher..

In this photo, we see the

A shot of the speakers who
were rounded up for the photo at the end. Robert Vibert is third
from
the left, front row. Beside him is John Morris, another AVIEN member.
The David (aka David Perry) is beside John, and then we have John
Alexander,
another AVIEN member. Back row, with just his head visible,
six from the left, is James Wolfe (AVIEN), as well as Martin Overton
(AVIEN) in 11th position from the left, in the beige shirt and trousers
(can't say "pants" - he's a Brit). Four more over to the right
is Joe Donovan in the green shirt (AVIEN).
AVI-EWS members were also
to be found in abundance. In the above photo, with his head right under
the green globe is Andreas Marx. In the front row, First from the left
is Klas Schöldström, David Perry and in the green shirt, second
from the far right is Kurt Natvig.
Almost every one of the dozens
of AVIEN folks who attended VB 2002 wore an exclusive AVIEN pin on their
badge. Soon, it was getting hard to find a group that did not have an
AVIEN presence.

Here's a good example of that - in the photo above, of the Speakers
Panel at the end of the conference, we see that the four people on the
right side are members of AVI-EWS and/or AVIEN (from far right to left,
Righard, Jeannette, John, and Andreas.)

In the photo above, Robert Vibert, Administrator and Chief Sacrificial
Lamb of AVIEN presents the AVIEN and AVI-EWS projects to the meeting
of AVPD (Anti-Virus Product Developer consortium, run by ICSAlabs).
As you can see by other photos, the meeting went well - he survived
to coordinate doughnut launches on the final day. In fact, AVIEN and
AVPD established an agreement to have AVIEN represented at future AVPD
meetings.
